Baysave is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation founded in 2009 that is registered as a New Jersey charity. Our mission is to coordinate community investment opportunities, harness resources to stabilize and restore our natural environment, and address environmental justice concerns, especially those affecting Money Island in rural Cumberland County New Jersey.
Money Island is New Jersey’s aquaculture development hub and the state’s second most productive seafood landing port. The small rural community also hosts a number of nonprofit organization enterprises and maintains both public and private access facilities to the Delaware Bay waterfront for recreational use. Our Nantuxent Cove is a popular spot for fishing and boating. Money Island recently become a national flash point in the struggle for environmental justice; the book “The Drowning of Money Island” explains the back story.
